Key grammar in this learning path
The grouping below is a teaching proposal by Mandarin Sprout, not the full CTI grammar syllabus.
了 for completed actions
Here, 了 after the verb marks a completed action. Not every reference to the past requires 了.
过 for past experience
过 marks experience. 去过 means having been somewhere; 正在去 means being on the way there.
正在 for an ongoing action
Place 正在 before the verb to describe an action in progress.
Comparisons with 比
Use A 比 B + adjective. 不比 does not automatically mean that A has less of the quality than B.
给 to introduce a recipient
给 + person + verb introduces the recipient or beneficiary of an action.
得 for degree and manner complements
得 follows the verb and introduces a description of manner or degree. Distinguish it from 的 and 地.
Suggested review cycle
- Read the method and practice a few questions before working on speed.
- Read explanations and retry missed questions. Only attempts without hints count as independent success.
- Write or speak, save a draft, then revise using the checklist.
- Check official sample papers before timed practice. The correct-answer rate here is not an exam score.
